Services for Erma Wyvette Rigdon Overby will be held Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at Webb Stephens Funeral Home, 7774A Highway 39 North, Meridian, MS, with Bishop, Charles F. Overby, Jr. (Chuck) & Reverend Joshua Ward officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Nebo Cemetery.
Mrs. Overby, 84, of Meridian, died Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Anderson Regional Medical Center.
She was a beautician & a caregiver for many years.
She was the Youngest of 11 children born to Reverend John A. Rigdon Sr. and his wife, Sudie Clara Willams Rigdon. Wyvette graduated from Suqulena High School. She was part of the original waitressing crew that opened up the Red Hot Truck Stop. During her early years, she also worked at the Dixie Ballroom cafe in the Lamar Hotel where she first met Elvis Presley and served him a peanut butter and banana sandwich which was her favorite too. She was a Calf Scramble Queen and rode with Elvis to the Calf Scramble the night he performed. After those wonderful experiences, she met our dad, Charlie Overby, who she was married to for 51 years until he passed in 2010.
Survivors include sons, Charles “Chuck” F. Overby, Jr. & wife Tammy,
John C. Overby & wife Janis, and daughter, Kimberly Dawn Overby and Napoleon Cole;
grandchildren Summer Overby, Jacob & Jared Overby, Mary Beth Hickman;
great grandchildren, Elijah Seth Ash & Raelynn Grace Overby, Christopher Lyons Jr., John Franklin Lyons, and Brently Rain Rigdon
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Overby, Sr. & her parents, Reverend John A. & Sudie Clara Rigdon & her siblings, Elmo Rigdon, Mary Juanita McKinion Chisolm, John A. Rigdon Jr, Willie Jewel Parkinson, Johnnie Holloman, William Taylor Rigdon, Bonnie Seales, Paul Rigdon Ted Rigdon, and Norma Johnson
Pallbearers will be John Overby, Jacob Overby, Jared Overby, Ron Rigdon, Napoleon Cole, Houston Neal.
Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 at the funeral home the day of the service.
