Esther Wilson

Funeral services for Esther Watkins Wilson, will be Sunday, July 31, 2022, at 2:00pm, at Webb & Stephens Funeral Home in Dekalb, MS. Interment will follow at Spring Hill UMC cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 to 2pm at the funeral home. Bro. George Warner will be officiating. Mrs. Wilson, 95, died Monday, July 25, 2022, at Winston County Nursing Home in Louisville, MS.

She is survived by her children Marcus T. Wilson (Faye), Aaron Wilson (Karen), Lowell Wilson (Lisa), and Miriam Watson (Tommy); 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Starlen Wilson; her parents Chester and Maggie Watkins; her siblings Rufina Gully, Jamima Powell, Alpha J. Watkins, and Omega Herrington.

Mrs. Wilson was retired from Commercial Bank with over 30 years. She also taught school for a couple of years at Prince Chapel in the Coy community. She attended Pharmacy school at The University of Mississippi but quit when her husband asked her to marry him. She loved her vegetable garden and worked that garden into her 80’s until her health just wouldn’t let her do it anymore. She had a very strong relationship with God and was a member of Spring Hill United Methodist Church.
