Funeral services for Edwin “Glenn” Gibson will be Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at 1:00, at Webb & Stephens Funeral Home – North. Bro. Paul Raley will be officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Forest Cemetery, with Masonic Rites. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service, from 11 to 1:00pm. Mr. Gibson passed peacefully March 4, 2023, at Bedford Care Center of Marion.

Glenn attended Witherspoon Elementary School, Kate Griffin Junior High School, and Meridian High School, followed by National Guard training where he was medically discharged due to a car accident in May of 1965. He worked with A and P grocery and IGA grocery as produce manager for 23 years. He then became a full-time paint contractor, including painting at Aldersgate Retirement Center for 9 years. An old friend, Carl Fitzgerald, gave Glenn his business slogan, “Painting Meridian, one house at a time.” He painted numerous houses and other structures around Meridian and Lauderdale County for 35 years until his retirement due to his health and inability to climb ladders.

He grew up in Wesley United Methodist Church and currently was a member of Central United Methodist Church, since 2003. He was a regular blood donor for many years, a faithful member of St. John’s Lodge #507 of the Masonic Lodge. He received his 50-year pin in 2017 and was always the coffee maker at their meetings. He was also known as the "Candy Man" at church because he always had mints he would give out.

Glenn is survived by his wife of almost 55 years, Wilda; a brother Buddy Gibson (Sara); nephews Bryant Gibson (Tammie), Marty Gibson (Wanda), and Ben Gibson; Nieces Melanie Roberts (Larry) and Gwen Hatcher (Chase), Nicole Gibson as special grand-niece along with numerous great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by father Everett Curtis Gibson and his mother Ethel Harper Gibson and a step-mother OraDee Heath Gibson.

Pallbearers will be Joe Pace, Bill Pace, Bryant Gibson, Don Pratt, Jim Copeland, and Allie Patterson. Honorary pallbearers are Shawn Anderson, Ray Holcombe, James Whitley, Jim Hobgood, Greg Ball, David Barr, and Ty Gibson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to either Central United Methodist Church ramp ministry at P.O. Box 1706, Meridian, MS 39302 or to Pine Forest Baptist Church Cemetery Fund at 10031 West Lauderdale Road, Collinsville, MS 39325.
