William Eugene Carlisle

June 25, 1948 — May 17, 2025

Gilbertown

William “Buster” Eugene Carlisle, age 76, of Gilbertown, Alabama, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025, at Choctaw General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer and numerous health complications. He was surrounded by his devoted family, who will continue to honor his memory by living life to the fullest—just as he would have wanted.

Buster was born on June 25, 1948, in Stonewall, Mississippi, to Archibald Eugene and Voncille (Stewart) Carlisle. He lived in Stonewall and attended Enterprise High School where he began learning the value of hard work, which he would carry throughout his entire life.

Buster was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a loyal friend to many. A cherished member of the Stonewall Assembly of God Church, where he was saved and baptized in 1984. More recently, he was a faithful attendee of Butler First Assembly of God Church in Butler, Alabama.

Buster took great pride in his work as a truck driver and mechanic. A true craftsman, he could fix or build just about anything. He shared a deep love for racing with his entire family, a passion that created many lasting memories.

He found immense joy in life’s simple pleasures – especially the companionship of his two beloved dogs, Callie and Zoey. He enjoyed tackling home projects with his best friend and neighbor, Ray Birdwell, and took great pride in spending time with his grandsons, Tyler and Josh, building race cars and watching them race. These moments brought him endless happiness.

Buster had a wonderful sense of humor and a laugh that was contagious. He had a unique ability to find joy and share it with those around him, never meeting a stranger.

For 48 beautiful years, he shared an unbreakable bond with his wife, Kathy Lynn Allen Carlisle. Through every health battle, Buster consistently reminded his children of their duty to care for her until they could be reunited in heaven. His love and devotion to her were unwavering.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy; daughters, Lesha Marchand (Boo Boo “Marcell”) of Livingston, AL, and Shannon Carlisle (Hillary) of Gilbertown, AL; son, Phillip Carlisle (Ashley) of Mobile, AL; grandchildren, Jeremy Donald (Brandy), Tyler Mosley (Kayla), Josh Mosley, Braxton Carlisle, and Avery Carlisle; mother-in-law, Lavora Allen; sisters, Sue Shoemaker (Ricky), Sarah Robinson (Jerry), and Vickie Stevens (Dewayne); as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Buster was preceded in death by his parents, Archibald Eugene and Voncille (Stewart) Carlisle, and his grandson, Jason Donald.

Visitation for Buster will be held on Wednesday, May 21st, from 10-11am at Butler First Assembly of God Church in Butler. Funeral Services will begin at 11am with Bro. Justin Overstreet and Bro. Ed Shoemaker officiating the services. Burial will take place at the Carlisle Family Cemetery in Gilbertown.

His legacy of love, laughter, and strength will live on in all who knew him.
