Our mother, Shirley Ann Semmes Cummins of Meridian, Mississippi passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born on February 22, 1946, to I.A. and Kathleen Semmes, Shirley graduated from Meridian High School and turned her lifelong love affair with plants and flowers into a career as a florist, creating beautiful works of floral art. Her creativity extended beyond her retirement as she continued arranging flowers for family, friends and her church.

A woman of deep faith, she prayed faithfully for family and friends as evidenced in her journals and letters. She was a faithful member of Evangel Temple, often found singing in the worship choir or attending the lady’s prayer gatherings.

Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and is survived by her daughter, Maryann Kyle, her son, Dennis Graham, daughter-in-law Brandie Graham, grandchildren Jonathan Holladay (Stephanie Holladay,) David Holladay, Haley Graham and Kylie Graham and great-daughters Olivia and Norah. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy, her parents, Nate and Kathleen and infant brother James.

A celebration of life will be held at Webb and Stephens Funeral Home in Meridian, Mississippi on Friday, June 12th, 2026, at 11:00 am with a visitation to be held an hour before.
