Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley Butts will be held on Saturday, May 3,2025 at 11 a.m., at Cuba Baptist Church with Bro. Mike McKee officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time. Interment will be held in Toomsuba Baptist Church cemetery.
Mrs. Butts, 82, passed away on May 1, 2025 at Baptist Hospital in Meridian. She was born in Preston, Mississippi to William Henry Charlton and Mattie Lou White Charlton. She enjoyed Indian weaving, sewing, and working/helping at the church. She was "Pecan Pie" famous. Anytime there was a function at (or for) the church, people wanted to get some of her delicious pecan pie. She was little bit of a prankster, her usual victims were family and friends. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Edwin Butts; Son, Jerry Butts (Mike); Daughters, Cindy Hutchinson (Mike), Sherri Lou Williams (Thomas), and Gay Klaasseen; Step son, Kenny Butts; Grandchildren, Kylie Graham (Tyler), Lindy Graham (Zach), Kim Burns (Ryan), Cody Crawford (Madison), Todd Pyle, Vanessa Krogman (Daniel), Shenia Pyle, Andrew Klaasseen (Shenlia), Avery Klaasseen, and Katie Klaasseen; Great Grandchildren, William and Walker Graham, Lilly Kate Harper, Hadley and Finley Burns, and Nathan Crawford; Sister, Ruby Ashley; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She is also remembered by her special friends, Joyce Reed and Ann Dean.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mattie Charlton; Brother, John Henry Charlton; Sisters, Sara Touchstone, Irene Stephens, Rachel Armes, and Lucille Little.
