A graveside service for Mr. Robert “Gene” Davenport will be held Tuesday, September 8, 2026, 11:00 a.m. at the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery with Bro. Virgil Walters officiating. Webb & Stephens Funeral Homes are honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Mr. Davenport, 88, of Toomsuba, passed away Friday, September 4, 2026, at his residence.

Gene enjoyed fishing and was known to be an excellent fisherman. He also liked to watch boxing and participated in boxing in his youth. However, nothing was more important to him than his family, whom he adored.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Maggie Davenport; sons, Robert Guy Davenport, Gary Joe Davenport, and Greg Scott Davenport; daughter, Pamela K. Swisher (Scott); stepsons, B. Brantley (Kevin) and Leslie Dewayne Brantley; stepdaughters, Sherry Wilcox and Shannon Stokley; 11 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and niece, Deborah Moulds (Keith).

He is preceded in death by his son, Steven G. Davenport; daughter, Cheryl M. Hamil; parents, E.J. and Maddie Lee Johnson Davenport; and brother, E. Lavelle Davenport.

The family requests for those following the procession to the cemetery to be at Webb & Stephens Funeral Home-North at 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday.
