Rev. Ruthie Stone

Graveside services for Rev. Ruthie E. Stone, will be Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Rev. Bob Null and Rev. Ron Wood will be officiating. Rev. Stone, 95, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at Poplar Springs Nursing Center. Stephens Funeral Home has been entrusted with her arrangements.

Rev. Stone served the Assemblies of God in the State of Mississippi for nearly 70 years. She began her ministry when she got ordained at the age of 16, in evangelism. After her marriage, she and her husband, Reverend Douglas Stone, served churches in Alabama, Florida, and Mississippi. She served as the Director of the Women’s Missionary Council of the Assemblies of God for the State of Mississippi, as well as serving in a variety of other capacities over her course of ministry such as music director, Sunday school teacher, children and youth minister, and her last role was as Senior Adult Pastor at First Assembly of God in Meridian, MS.

She is survived by her daughter Lana Wood (Ron), and her son Henry Douglas Stone Jr. (Jane); 3 grandchildren Scott Wood, Rebecca Wood, and Carrie Stone Fletcher; 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Letty and Rufus Jenkins; her husband of 59 years Rev. Douglas Stone; 4 sisters Edna Carney, Valerie Cockrell, Viola Thomas, Lois Rebecca McClain, and a brother Clyde Jenkins.
