Marilyn Florette Hayes was born on July 18th, 1947, to Edward and Doris White, in Columbus, GA. Marilyn passed away peacefully in Meridian, MS, on July 23rd, 2026.

Marilyn worked at Walmart for many years. When she first started, she was in the gardening section and would bring home plants that needed some extra care and would bring them back to life. She then was moved to the electronic section of Walmart where she would retire after many years.

Marilyn enjoyed many things such as painting landscapes using watercolors. She also enjoyed activities such as knitting and reading. She was also part of the Choir at the Episcopal Church of the Mediator

Marilyn loved people but loved nothing more than her cherished grandchildren. She also loved her soulmate for nearly 35 years, Harlan.

Marilyn Florette Hayes is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Doris White, her daughter Sarah Hughley, and her sister Tina White.

Marilyn is survived by her loving husband, Harlan Hayes; her sons Brent Granger (Laurie) and Ed Granger (Sheila); daughter, Shana Steele (Robert); her sister Susan Mason; grandchildren, Joey Steele (Hayley), Chase Granger, Keeton Granger, Cody Hughley, Cierra Hughley, Katelynn Hughley, Sammantha Hughley, Austin Hughley, and Olivia Granger; great-grandchildren, Sarafina, Amara, Meah, and Isaac; Niece, Kate Collins (Ryan); and great-nephews, Mason and Jett Collins
