Funeral services for Mrs. Louva Butts will be held Sunday at 1pm at Webb & Stephens Funeral Home – North. Rev. Mike McKee will be officiating the service with burial following at Union City Cemetery in Union, MS. The staff of Webb & Stephens -North are honored to be serving the family during this difficult time.
Mrs. Butts was born August 27, 1920 and left this earth to be with her heavenly father on August 31st at the age of 102 yrs.
She is survived by her son Edwin Jerald Butts Sr. (Shirley); grandchildren Cindy Hutchinson (Mike), Jerry Butts, Mike Hollinghead, Sherri Williams (Thomas), Ederle Klaassen and Kenny Butts. Mrs. Butts is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, 10 great great-grandchildren, sister in laws Loetha Hall and Dot Hollingsworth along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Oswald Butts; parents Nathan and Eva Kate Taylor; sisters Loetha Norris, Lora Dee Taylor Johnson and brother Wilburn Taylor.
Mrs. Butts began her career at Kress in Meridian, then later opening her own café in Toomsuba which also served as the Greyhound bus stop. After the interstate was built and the Toomsuba bus stop was closed, she then opened her own store in the Toomsuba community in 1959 called Butts Grocery which she operated until her retirement in 1992.
She had the love of gardening in her and the love of Christ in her heart. Mrs. Butts was a longtime member of Toomsuba Baptist Church where she served in the choir. She loved her church family and held a special place in her heart for them. Mrs. Butts read her Bible everyday and was so strong in faith.
She will be greatly missed by her family and dear friends.
Pallbearers will be Michael Hollinghead, Mike Hutchinson, Cody Crawford, Ryan Burns, Thomas Lynn Williams and Tyler Graham.
The family will receive friends from 11 am until service time at the funeral home.
