Lizzie Long

Graveside services for Lizzie Mae Jenkins Long, will be Sunday, June 26, 2022, at 3:00pm, at Center Ridge Baptist Church cemetery in Dekalb, MS. Bro. Harvey Troutman and Bro. Cliff Barker will be officiating. Mrs. Long, 94, died Monday, June 20, 2022, at John C. Stennis Memorial Hospital, in Dekalb, MS.

She is survived by her daughter Barbara Ann Crabb (Danny) of Dayton, OH; grandsons Samuel Crabb (Kallye) of Dayton, OH and Gabriel Crabb (Chelsea) of Richmond, IN; honorary daughter Janet McKie (Bob) of Dekalb, MS; honorary granddaughter Anna Partridge (Tyler); honorary great grandson Jaxon Partridge all of Meridian, MS; special niece Rosemary Cross (Alan) of Collinsville, MS; special nephew Roy Caraway of Dekalb, MS; many more nieces and nephews along with her fur baby Jet.

She was preceded in death by her parents John Peyton and Mary Anice Pace Jenkins; her husband Virgil Davis “Buck” Long; 2 sisters Virgie Caraway and Eva Ellen Jenkins; 3 brothers Willie Payton, Chester, and Walter Lee Jenkins.

Mrs. Long was a long-time member and Sunday School teacher at Center Ridge Baptist Church. She worked for many years in textile factories in Dekalb, MS. After her husbands’ death in 1976, she also ran the family farm and raised beef cattle.
