Joyce Ray

Joyce M. Ray, 76 of Kingwood, TX passed away on March 10, 2022. She was the wife of Louis Ray.

They shared 26 years of marriage together.

Born in Meridian, MS on June 9, 1945. She was the daughter of Grady and Ruth Wilkerson.

Joyce is survived by husband Louis Ray of Kingwood, TX: two sons, Lee (Karen) Stephens of New Caney, TX, Grady (Traci) Stephens of Peoria, AZ; daughter Tammy Stephens of Noxapater, MS: grandchildren Natasha, Ashley, Heather, Donnie, Ashley Nicole, Darrell Jr., Cody, Matthew and Rylee along with numerous great grandchildren, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Grady and Ruth Wilkerson, sister Ruby and her son Darrell Dewayne Hemphill.

Joyce had only one true calling in life, her grandchildren will tell you, she was the best Grandma and Mimi a child could have. She loved those grandbabies with every inch of her heart. She taught them love and understanding. To hold on to each other because one day she would be gone. She prayed for them daily and extra on some days,if they were out of her sight. "Keep them safe Lord, until I see them again."

If roses grow in Heaven Lord, please pick a bunch for me.

Place them in my Mother's arms and tell her they're from me.

Tell her that I love her and miss her,

And when she turns to smile, place a kiss on her cheek

And hold her for a while.

Because remembering her is easy, I do it every day

But there's an ache within my heart,

that will never go away.

Services will be held at Rosewood Funeral Home in Porter, TX. Visitation Tuesday March 15, 2022 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 12:00pm. Graveside services will be held at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Little Rock, MS on Saturday, March 19th at 1pm. Graveside service will be handled by Webb & Stephens Funeral Home – North in Meridian, MS.
