Services for Johnetta Hopper Buchanan, 103, will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Briggs Chapel Memorial Church in Porterville, Mississippi, with Rev. Nick Holden officiating. Webb and Stephens Funeral Home – North, Meridian, are in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 21st, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home and from 10:00 Am to 11:00 Am at the church immediately preceding the service. Interment will follow the service at Briggs Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be the grandsons of Mrs. Buchanan.

A life-long resident of Porterville, Mississippi, Mrs. Buchana was born on July 6th, 1923, and passed away at home on Saturday, July 18th, 2026. Mrs. Buchanan was a member of Briggs Chapel Memorial Church, attending faithfully while able to do so. She also loved her flowers and her garden and was picking and shelling peas two weeks ago. Most of all, she loved her family dearly.

Mrs. Buchanan is survived by six children: James H Buchanan, Jr., and wife Linda, Betty B Wiggins, Billy H. Buchanan, Martin W. Buchanan and wife Susan, Johnnie Sue Stuart, and Judy B. Garrett; 17 grandchildren: Marvin Wiggins, Jr., and wife Holly, Gary Cagle, Wendy Moore and husband Mark, Michelle Robinson and Husband Rodney, Kevin Hedgpeth, Amy Booker, Dana Buchanan, Lee Stuart and wife Julia, Jennifer Shelton, Penni Wallace and husband Jackson, Wayne Buchanan and wife Claire, Korey Garrett, Scott Wiggins, Cindy Hobden, Joetta Chandlee, Edward Stuart, and Landon Bryant and wife Shannon, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren with two more on the way.

Mrs. Buchanan was predeceased by her husband, James Hunter Buchanan, her daughter, Polly Buchanan, a grandson, Thomas Hairston, her parents John D. and Susie Clark Hopper, her eight sisters and two brothers, two sons-in-law, and two daughters-in-law.
