Jimmy Michael "Mike" Holmes

Jimmy Michael “Mike” Holmes of Meridian passed away peacefully the evening of Wednesday, April 30th at Baptist Anderson Hospital.

Mike was born to James “Jim” Norris Holmes and Clara Jean (Rutledge) Reese on October 31, 1957, in Meridian. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted family man. Family was the most important thing to him, and that also included his beloved pets. Mike was known as a workaholic, constantly keeping busy, even until a month ago during his battle with sickness. Before becoming ill, he enjoyed bowhunting, winning several contests for his efforts.

Mike married the love of his life and best friend, Angela “Angie” Ishee, on April 10, 2004. Along with recently celebrating their 21st wedding anniversary while in the hospital, Mike also renewed his relationship with his Lord and Savior. Mike’s absence from this life will be greatly felt, but his family now rests in the assurance that he is healed and resting in the arms of Jesus.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 21 years, Angela “Angie” Ishee Holmes; his stepmother, Linda Holmes, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, James “Jim” Holmes; his mother, Clara Jean Reese; his sisters, Frances Davidson and Brenda J. Carney; and his stepfather, Charles Reese.

A Memorial Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, May 10th, at the Holmes Family Cemetery, beginning at 2:00pm with Bro. Kenneth Smith officiating the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests for donations to be made in Mike's honor to the American Cancer Society, the Animal Rescue League, or to your favorite charity of choice.
