Jimmy Dee Ethridge

Jimmy Dee Ethridge’s faith became sight when he met his Lord and Savior on July 29th, 2025 at the age of 78.

Jimmy was born in Meridian, MS at Mattie Hersee Hospital to Mark Dee and Bonnie Ree Ethridge. He was the youngest of eight children. He attended Martin-Center Hill School and then Kate Griffin School. Jimmy enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1963. While in the Marines, he received the following awards: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Good Conduct Medal (awarded twice).

While enlisted in the Marines, Jimmy met his true love, Connie Anne Shaw. They were married on May 4, 1966. Together they had two children; Sheila (John) and James. Jimmy was a proud grandfather, lovingly referred to as “Paw Paw”, of three fine grandsons; Jonathan (Alyson), Jason (Kaitlyn), and Justin (Eliza). He had one great-grandson and a great-granddaughter on the way. Jimmy leaves behind three sisters; Jean, Joann, Joyce, and one brother; Danny. He had many loving nieces and nephews.

After Jimmy’s time in the Marine Corps, Jimmy and Connie moved to Meridian where Jimmy worked as a skilled construction worker. He completed a four year carpenter apprenticeship at Meridian Community College. He enjoyed construction work and later worked for the City of Meridian, serving in many different roles.

Jimmy was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was an animal lover. His daughter referred to him as the male Snow White, because all the animals loved him. He was strong, yet meek and humble. His strength was evident as he battled and beat cancer four times prior to his final fight. Jimmy never complained or said a negative word about anyone. He enjoyed spending time with his family, walking his dog each morning, and completing various home improvement projects.

His family will miss his kind, gentle spirit and his warm presence.
