Jessie Marie Fulton Bonner, age 78, of Meridian, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on February 2, 1947, in Brooksville, Mississippi, to the late Dick and Alwee Fulton.
Jessie grew up in Brooksville and cherished her family roots. She is survived by her sister, Mamie Brown, and her brother, Robert Fulton. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charlie Fulton and John Harold Fulton.
On January 2, 1971, Jessie married the love of her life, Russell “Rusty” Wayne Bonner. Over the last 54 wonderful years, she has been a loving and devoted wife, and together they have shared and created many memories that Rusty will forever be grateful for.
A devoted mother, Jessie is survived by her son, David Bonner and his wife, Andrea Goodwin. She was a proud grandmother to Brett Bonner (Anna Marie), Cody Bonner (Anna Marie), Troy Dukes (Julie), and Hayden Bonner. She delighted in her five great grandchildren and eagerly anticipated the arrival of one more blessing to the family.
Jessie dedicated 35 years of her life as a teacher and librarian at Clarkdale Attendance Center, where she instilled in countless children a love for reading and learning. Known for her gentle spirit and warm encouragement, she was more than an educator―she was a mentor, encourager, and friend who touched generations of students.
Her faith and love for her community were central to her life. A longtime member of Pleasant Hill Methodist Church, Jessie joyfully served wherever she was needed, but her heart belonged to the Wednesday night children’s ministry. Week after week, she would make sure each local child had a good meal, sharing with them the love of Christ. Through these simple but powerful acts of service, she planted seeds of faith that will continue to bear fruit for years to come.
Jessie’s home was another place where her love shone brightly. She was a gifted cook, and her table was always open to anyone who needed a seat. Many will fondly remember her warm hospitality, whether at a bustling Sunday lunch, a birthday celebration, or a quiet evening meal. Her kitchen became a gathering place for family, friends, and neighbors―a true reflection of her generous heart.
Jessie will be remembered as a woman of faith, grace, and steadfast love. Her legacy is carried on through her family, her students, her church, and all whose lives were blessed by her kindness.
Visitation for Jessie will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Webb & Stephens Funeral Homes-Downtown. Funeral Services will begin in the chapel at 2:00 p.m., with Bro. George Warner officiating the service. Jessie will be laid to rest in the Spring Hill Methodist Church Cemetery.
Serving as Pallbearers for Jessie’s service will be her son, David Bonner; grandsons, Brett Bonner, Cody Bonner, Troy Bonner, and Hayden Bonner; along with her nephew, Chuck Brown.
