Obituary

Mr. Jerry Kendall Kinard passed away at his home on January 26, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 1, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. with interment to follow at Pine Springs Southern Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:30 p.m. prior to the service. Rev. David Dewease and Rev. Gary Briden will officiate.

Jerry Kendall Kinard, most often referred to as Kendall or Ken, was born February 27, 1942, to George and Mary “Manez” Kinard (later Mary Hood) of Meridian, MS. He grew up in “Shucktown” and graduated from Center Hill School, where he served as Senior Class President. He married the love of his life, Margaret Ann Smith, and as a young man had a diverse employment history-including working as a milkman, an insurance salesman, and most notably working at Murray Rogers Service Station in Bailey. He eventually went to work for Bell Telephone Co. as a lineman, and he remained there for over 30 years. His time at Bell was marked by responding to catastrophic events such as ice storms and most notably after Hurricane Camille in 1969. He and fellow lineman lived on the Gulf Coast for about 3 months. After retirement from Bell, he stayed home only for a short time, then returned to work at Citizen’s National Bank as the Maintenance Department Manager. He could fix almost anything and was frequently called on by family members to help with various projects. He was beloved by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren for stories of his and his family’s past. Kendall loved the Lord, having been saved and baptized at a young age. Service to Christ was important to him, always being an active church member. He passed these values on to his children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Kinard and Mary Hood; his great-grandson, Bennett Hawn; and an infant daughter. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Margaret Ann Kinard; his daughters, Jeri Rogers and Teresa Aycock-both of Meridian; grandchildren, Andrew Webb (Emma) of Fredrick, MD, Jamie Rogers of Meridian, Nicholas Webb (Noragh) of Burlington, VT, Geoffrey Rogers (Megan) of Gainesville, FL, Jordan Rogers of Meridian, Chelsea Hall (Cameron) of Meridian; sister, Carol Graham of Meridian; nieces Liza Gilton and Sally Graham of Meridian; and 9 great grandchildren, Isabel Webb, Jax Weir, Anessa Eskew, Jesse Rogers, Poppy Hall, Piper Hall, Joslyn Rogers, Cooper Rogers, Kimber Rogers, and numerous cousins. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and family friends.

The family extends their appreciation to Dr. John Boyd, Dr. Richmond Alexander, and Accentcare Hospice for their care-especially in the final days.

The family requests flowers as Jerry enjoyed flowers.

The staff of Webb & Stephens Funeral Homes-North is grateful for the opportunity to honor Jerry’s life and memory and to serve his loving family during this time.
