Services for James Bryan will be held Saturday, August 1, 2026, 11:00 a.m. at Binnsville Church with Bro. Chris Gully officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

James Roger Bryan, known to all as Jimmy, was born on August 9, 1940, the second of five children born to Leo and Blanche Bryan. He attended Margie B. Aust Elementary and later high school and college at EMJC. In his early working years, Jimmy spent time driving a truck for Bryan Foods in West Point. He made many lifetime friends during those years. It was on one of those trips that he met his future wife, Mattie Price. The two were married on March 11, 1966, and together they built a life centered on love and family togetherness , raising three children—Rosie, Doug, and Carol. Jimmy adored his children and wanted nothing more than seeing them happy. Later in his life there would be grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Jimmy Bryan is a man who has never met a stranger. He has a way of striking up a conversation with anyone he meets, and before long, they’re no longer strangers—they’re friends.

He has always had a deep love for the outdoors. Whether it was hunting deer, squirrels, birds, and rabbits, or spending a quiet day fishing, Jimmy found joy in nature. But more than anything, he cherished the time spent with the people he loved. In the camp house he built, he gathered family and friends, sharing stories of his hunts and adventures, captivating everyone who listened. And there was nothing he loved better than going on camping trips with his wife and children.

Jimmy’s heart has always been rooted in generosity. He finds more happiness in giving than receiving, and that kindness has touched countless lives. Over the years, whether through his work or daily life, he built lasting friendships with so many people who came to know him not just for a conversation, but for his warmth and genuine spirit.

His nieces and nephews adore him, often gathering close just to hear his stories those unforgettable “tall tales” that only Uncle Jimmy could tell.

Jimmy loved spending time with old friends and catching up on life. He spent much time with his friend Blll from Tennessee and together they would plan all kind of hunting and fishing outings, but mostly they just told tall tales of the outings from long ago.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his mother and father, Blanche and Leo Bryan, his wife , Mattie Price Bryan, his granddaughter Gloria Edward’s, his Brother and sister-in-law, Sonny and Mary Bryan, and his sister Latitia McDade.

He is survived by his son Douglas Bryan, his daughter, Carol Rigdon, (Adam), his stepdaughter Rosie Spencer, grandsons Justin Edwards,(Nicole), Austin Edwards, granddaughter Tiffany Marion, (Tyler), and several great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother Marvin(Bubba) Bryan, (Jan ) and a sister Anne Grove, (John) , and a brother-in-law Bobby McDade and numerous nieces and nephews

Jimmy loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and lived with the blessed assurance of eternal life. He looked forward to the day he would be reunited with his Savior in Heaven, a hope that gave him peace and guided his life. He was a member of the United Methodist church in Binnsville and later when he couldn’t go to church to worship he watched several different preachers on local tv.

Pallbearers will include Ben McDade, Rick Haskins, Timmy Bryan, Bryan Grove, Eric Bryan, and Mike Manley.

Honorary Pallbearers will include Bill Allen, Brad Bounds, Johnny Moore, and Jamie Ivy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Binnsville Cemetery Fund 6657 Binnsville Road, Scooba, MS 39358.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 31, 2026, 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Webb & Stephens Funeral Home-DeKalb and an hour prior to service at the church on Saturday.
