Herbert Ward Smith Sr

Herbert Ward Smith, Sr, 72, of Stonewall, Mississippi passed away on September 12, 2023, at his home. 

     He was born to Frank Ward and Helen Marie (Waddle) Smith on April 12, 1951, in Hudson, New York.  He served two tours in Vietnam with the United States Marine Corp as a Machine Gunner.

     Herbert was married to Bobby Jo (Robinson) Smith and together they had three children.  His family fondly remembers how he had a “great green thumb” and loved to do yardwork, especially working with his flowers.

     Herbert is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bobby Jo Smith; son, Herbert Ward Smith, Jr; two daughters, Terry Smith and Therese Jo Dill (Jason); along with nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

     He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Tammy Marie Smith.

     A graveside service will be held Friday, September 15, 2023, at Springhill Methodist Church at 10 am, with Reverend Josh Beckman officiating.
