Henry, a man known for his kindness, generosity, and quiet strength, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at the age of 96. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion and love that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Throughout his life, he treated everyone with respect and warmth. He believed in showing up for others—whether through a listening ear, a helping hand, or a simple act of kindness that made someone’s day a little brighter. He never sought recognition, yet his goodness was felt everywhere he went.
He was a longtime member of Hebron Baptist Church and found joy in life through toe tapping southern gospel music. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a career lumber grader for many lumber yards in Mississippi and Alabama throughout his life.
He was encouraging, thankful, and faithful to his Lord, family, and career. He will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, and long life of integrity.
He is survived by his special children, Alicia Chambers and Alex Barrineau (Alli); special grandchildren, Cohen and Neva Chambers and Brooklyn Barrineau; nieces and nephews, Jimmie Moore (Ann), Donna Sprabery, Richard Gardner (Sandy), Cliff Gardner (Lawanda), Johnny Gardner (Sissy), Donnie Gardner (Joan), Charlotte Huddleston, John Gardner (Lawanda), and Becky Mobley; and numerous great nieces and nephews, all of who will forever cherish his memory and the lessons he taught by example.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Neva Nell “Pill” Gardner Boswell; parents, Henry Franklin Boswell Sr. and Janie Otis Camp Boswell; siblings, Helen Boswell Smiley (Jim) and James O. Boswell (Imogene); and nieces and nephews, Kathy Hill, Ronnie Gardner, and Linda Gardner Ivey.
Pallbearers will include Alex Barrineau, Cliff Gardner, Donnie Gardner, Richard Gardner, Mike Robinson, and Mark McDonald.
Honorary pallbearers will include Johnny Gardner, Ronnie Gardner, Donnie Barrineau, James Cecil Chadwick, and the Senior Adult Men’s Sunday School Class of Hebron Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2026, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Webb & Stephens Funeral Home-North as well as an hour prior to service on Monday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Hebron Baptist Church Benevolence Fund.
