Harold Joseph Aust

Funeral services for Harold Joseph “Little Joe” Aust will be held Thursday at 11:30 am at Binnsville United Methodist Church. Brother Zac Cox will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Binnsville community cemetery. Stephens Funeral Home of Meridian has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Aust, 79, passed away Saturday, February 1st at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.

After attending East Mississippi Junior College, Mr. Aust joined the Mississippi National Guard and later began his construction career working in residential construction with builders in the Dekalb area before starting his own company. He finished his career in commercial construction and doing a little bit of everything. He enjoyed fishing and hunting as well as raising and selling quail for about ten years. Mr. Aust was always willing to help friends and neighbors any way that he could.

He is survived by his brother Tomie Aust (Cathie) of Fayetteville, GA; nieces Lisa Aust Jacobson of Flowery Branch, GA, Jennifer Katherine Aust of Pulaski, TN; great nephews Joshua Ward, Benjamin Ward and Matthew Ward. Mr. Aust is also survived by four great-great nephews and one great-great niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents James and Virginia Aust.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Reed, Johnny Bryan, Bubba Bryan, Frankie Russell and Ernie Watts.

Visitation will be at Stephens Funeral Home of Meridian on Wednesday evening from 5pm to 7pm and on Thursday at the church from 10:30 am to service time.
