George Howard Creed

August 14, 1971 — May 22, 2025

Porterville

George Howard Creed, 53, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at his home in Porterville.

George was born to Berbon Ellis “Buddy” Creed, Jr and Alberta Alice “Peggy” (Rainer) Creed on August 14, 1971, in Kemper County. George will be remembered for the genuine kind soul that he was. He never met a stranger, would help anyone he could, and always had a smile and kind word for everyone he met. He loved his community and served for many years as a volunteer firefighter at the Porterville Volunteer Fire Department.

George proudly participated in the Kemper County Relay for Life each year in honor of his mother, Peggy, after her passing in 2011 from breast cancer. He also enjoyed spending time with the staff and members at Weems Community Health Center of DeKalb, where he would participate in activities and games, such as dominos and bingo. He loved their trips out to eat, especially to Western Sizzlin and Captain D’s. George was also a faithful and longtime member of both Cross Mountain Church and Bay Springs Baptist Church of Porterville. George’s absence will be greatly felt by all those who knew and loved him.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Buddy and Peggy Creed; his brother, Milton Creed; and his sister, Teresa Creed Scruggs.

He is survived by his brother, Ellis Creed along with his many beloved and cherished friends.

Graveside services will be held for George on Tuesday, May 27th, beginning at 1:00 pm at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Porterville.
