George Blackwell Jr.

A graveside service for Mr. George Dewie Blackwell Jr. will be held Friday, September 25th, 11:00 a.m. at Jones Chapel Church of God Cemetery with Bro. Jeff Handcock officiating.

Mr. Blackwell, 93, of Meridian, passed away Monday, September 21st at Aldersgate Retirement Community.

Bro. George was a minister of Church of God for 40 years. He was a member of the American Legion, Kiwanis Club, and the Triad Club in College. He was also chairman of the Southern Convent Church of God.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Ileana “Klue” Blackwell of Meridian, MS; brother David Blackwell (Terry) of Nashville, TN; nephews, Carl Blackwell (Sandie) of Meridian, MS and Gregory D. Blackwell (Kim) of Olney, MD; niece, Donna Riley (Mike) of Durango, CO; and several great, and great great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George Blackwell Sr. and Nealy Katherine Baggett Blackwell; brothers, Leo Blackwell and Cecil Blackwell; and sister, Mavis Lunsford.
