Funeral services for Frances Lee Skelton Herrington will be held Monday, Jan. 20, at 2 p.m., at Antioch Southern Methodist Church in Collinsville, with interment to follow at Antioch Cemetery. Bro. David Sellers will be officiating.

Ms. Skelton Herrington, 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family and friends.

Frances was born on Jun. 18, 1935, in Martin, MS to William Ernest Lee and Gertrude White. She was the 9th of 10 children. She was known and loved by her family as a Christian woman who loved the Lord and lived her life by example. She attended Antioch Southern Methodist Church where she has been a member for many years. Frances had a love of life. She loved being the jokester and enjoyed a witty sense of humor. She was also an avid piano player, entertaining her family for hours on end, while never reading a note.

Family was very important to Frances. This was evident by the love shown to her by her numerous nieces and nephews. She had a very special and loving relationship with her family. She was known to all for being a comforter, confidant, and spiritual advisor.

Ms. Skelton Herrington was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Mack Herrington; sisters Roxie Martin, Willie McKee, Nellie Herrington, Betty Jo Herrington; and brothers Ormand Lee, Jimmie Lee, Louie Lee, and Andrew (Bud) Lee.

She is survived by her 3 children Jerry Lee Skelton (Angie) of Virginia Beach, VA, Jena Garrett (Clay) of Meridian, MS, and Jill Stevison (Michael) of Acworth, GA; one very special sister Bobbie Lee Ethridge of Meridian, whom she cherished and considered one of her greatest blessings; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and her beloved fur baby, Scooby.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of SouthernCare Hospice for their caring, dedicated, and professional care of Ms. Skelton Herrington during her final months.

Visitation will be held from 1pm to 2pm Monday at Antioch Southern Methodist Church. Friends may sign the online register at www.stephensfunerals.com.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Ms. Skelton Herrington to be made to Antioch Southern Methodist Building Fund.
