Eugene "Gene" Thomas Collins

A graveside service for Mr. Eugene “Gene” Thomas Collins will be held Friday, March 29, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Allen Carr officiating. Webb & Stephens Funeral Home-Downtown is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Mr. Collins, 88, of Meridian, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at his residence.

Gene was a lifelong member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He was a simple man who enjoyed playing his guitar, fishing, and tending his vegetable garden. However, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, was what he loved most. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, and loving father and grandfather.

He is survived by his children, Brenda Golisch, Rebecca Tyree, and Randy Collins (Patti); grandchildren, Thomas Tyree (Jodi), Brandy Barry (Michael), and Courtney Golisch; great grandchildren, Spencer Baucum, Colby Tyree, Taylor Tyree, Ian Wright, and Caty Tyree; great great grandchildren, Duke Baucum, Deckard Tyree, Kelton Tyree, and Asher Tyree; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Betty Sue Davidson Collins; parents, Benjamin and Lillie Logan Collins; and siblings, Ben Collins, Leroy Collins, Marion Collins, Bernice Bonner, and Linda Barousse.

Pallbearers will include Thomas Tyree, Michael Barry, Spencer Baucum, Colby Tyree, Ian Wright, and Brandon Arkuszeski.

The family encourages those attending the service come in blue jeans and ball caps, if you like, in memory of Mr. Gene.
