Eloise Temple

January 2, 1910 — October 1, 2008


Eloise Hart Temple, a Meridian, native, founder of Camp Skyline Ranch in 1947 and the Founder of Camp DeSoto in 1937. died recently in Rome, Ga., at age 98. She will be buried in Magnolia Cemetery, next to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John LeRoy Hart. She attended Shorter College, and The University of Alabama, and was a graduate of Peabody College in Nashville, Tennessee. She produced Meridians First School Spectacular at Ray stadium in 1940, featuring children of every public school in Meridian.

She is survived by a daughter Barbara Temple Oneill of Ponte Verda Beach, Fl., and New York City, and a son J. Brooke Temple of Rome, Ga., five grandchildren, Mary Brooke Palmer of Birmingham, Al., Karen Hart Fort of Atlanta, Ga., Thomas F. Muller of Rome, Ga., William B. Temple, of Rome, Ga., and Charles B. Temple of Rome, Ga., and six great-grandchildren.

Dr. Raymon Leake will officiate at the private service.
