Dorothy Jean Garrett, 80, of Meridian, passed away the afternoon of Sunday, June 1, 2025, at Ochsner Rush Hospital.
Jean was born to Coylee and Avis Colene (Edwards) Myers on September 20, 1944, in Meridian. Jean will be remembered as a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother. Jean married the love of her life, Lamar Alton Garrett, on March 4, 1963. They shared a wonderful 55 years together before his passing in 2018. She took great delight in watching her grandchildren and her great grands grow and play. She also enjoyed the homemade “sweets” that her grands would make and bring to her. Her absence will be greatly felt by all who knew and loved her, and her family rests in the assurance that she is finally reunited with her husband and their children that went on before her.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Coylee and Colene Myers; her husband, Lamar Alton Garrett; along with her sons, Butch Garrett and Roy Garrett.
Those left to cherish Jean’s memory are her son, Steve Garrett (Diane); her brother, Tommy Myers (Sandra); her sister, Debbie Lindsey (Mike); her five grandchildren, Steven Garrett, Alyse Surles (Demetris), Lamar “Little Butch” Garrett (Rebecca), Megan Garrett, and Dustin Garrett; along with a legacy of eleven great grandchildren; and her beloved feline pets.
A Celebration of Life Service for Jean will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, beginning at 10:00 am at Bonita Lakes (back lake), with Bro. Kenny Watson officiating the ceremony.
The staff of Webb & Stephens Funeral Homes-North is grateful for the opportunity to honor Jean’s life and memory and to serve her loving family during this time.
