Services for Mrs. Daisy Deweese McDonald will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2023, 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Methodist Church with Bro. Mike Sims officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery. Webb & Stephens Funeral Home-DeKalb is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Mrs. McDonald passed away October 11, 2023 in West Point, MS at the age of 97.
Daisy was born in Meridian, MS and was a graduate of Meridian High School and Meridian Junior College. On November 4, 1950, she married James L. "Jimmy" McDonald at Poplar Springs Methodist Church in Meridian.
Upon moving to DeKalb she joined the United Methodist Church with her husband and attended faithfully. She was a member of the United Methodist Woman (UMW) and served as a chief board member.
Daisy worked at the ASC and Title 1 offices before serving Kemper County as Deputy Chancery Clerk until she retired at age 62. But she didn't slow down and soon was elected as an Alderman of DeKalb.
Over the next 35 years, she saw her children married and welcomed grandchildren who she avidly followed in their activities. Her time after her husband passed was spent reading, attending church and UMW, spending time with friends and family and enjoying her great grandchildren. In 2020 she moved to West Point to reside with her daughter and son-in-law.

She is survived by her daughter, Lesa Tumey (Bobby); son, Leslie McDonald (Edith); granddaughter, Molly Plasters (Charlie); grandsons, Dave Nanney (Heather) and Adam Tumey (Lexie); great grandchildren, Elijah Plasters, Morgan Plasters, Amberly Nanney, Braxton Nanney, Thomas Tumey and Mary Austin Tumey.

Pallbearers will include David Nanney, Adam Tumey, Charlie Plasters, Danny Hutcherson, Steven Hutcherson, and Blake Hutcherson.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, James L. “Jimmy” McDonald; daughter, Viva Jo Dye; granddaughter, Elsie Dye; parents, C.A. “Tish” and Vivian Deweese; sister, Ruth Huey; and brother, Bill Deweese.
Visitation will be held Saturday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Webb & Stephens Funeral Home-DeKalb and an hour before service time at the church Sunday.
