Miss Dee, age 82, of Meridian, went to be with the Lord, February 10, 2022 @ 3:38 P.M. at her home surrounded by family.  She learned as a young beauty contestant who won many awards in Tennessee and Mississippi to carry a big smile with a big heart.

Miss Dee was active as a young lady at WMC-TV in Memphis and Nashville.  After college she served as a research assistant at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.  She became the Romper Room Teacher at Meridian WHTV as a daily syndicated program.  During this time, she became the Village Fair Mall manager once it opened, until Miss Dee accepted the role of a lifetime, as a stay-at-home Mother who provided service on the board of Carter-Miller Associates, Ltd and WMER Christian Radio.  She was active in her church as a teacher, senior’s program director, and she aided in the founding of the WMER Radio Bible Class.  Miss Dee loved her fellowship at Trinity Assembly of God Church.

Miss Dee, launched the Romper Room franchise from Meridian, MS and entertained children from across the city of Meridian, which grew to the State of MS, and beyond.  Everyday, Miss Dee brought hope and joy to children as she looked into her magic mirror and called out the names of children that she encouraged and prayed for. Miss Dee, as a past beauty queen and pageant winner herself, inspired children that appeared on her program to reach for the stars. One such guest was Miss Mississippi 1985 and Miss America 1986, Miss Susan Akin, a family friend.

Miss Dee is survived by her husband of 63 years, N. Brad Carter, Jr. of Meridian. Deanie was his friend, wife, lover, mother of their children, and councilor.  She was a special glue to her family that has shared in her life these many years. She leaves loving, fun, and fond memories to her four sons, Nate (Pam) of Boca Raton, FL., Mark (Renee) of Meridian, Ms., Tim (Sandra) of St. Augustine, FL., Tom (Jennifer) of Carriere, Ms., Linda Haugen of Argyle, MN, eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.  Her surviving siblings include Wayne Ligon (Rita), Larry Ligon (Judy) and sister-in-law Linda Ligon.
