Services for Charles J. Thomas Jr. will be held today at 2 p.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Hal Ethridge officiating. Burial will be in the Hamrick Cemetery.

Mr. Thomas, 81, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, at Infinity Hospice. He was a member of Hope Baptist Church in Sweetwater, Ala. and was a retired truck driver and member of the Teamsters.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Patsy R. Thomas; his son, Larry Thomas and his friend, Ann Fillingim, of Meridian; his grandchildren, Matt Thomas, Tonya Thomas Moore, Renee Liberto, Solomon Joseph Thomas, and Shei Blaker; Sisters, Mildred Rhoden, of Atlanta, Fairlene Lemus, of Michigan; 13 great-grandchildren, three sisters-in-law, Frances Hoven and her husband, Earl, of Meridian, Elise Robertson and her husband, James, of Vicksburg and Brenda Ethridge of Philadelphia; and two brothers-in-law, Wayne Ethridge and his wife, Becky, of Demopolis, Ala., and Maxwell Ethridge of Meridian.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles J. Thomas Sr. and Josie Mae Reece Thomas; a son, Chuck Thomas; and a brother, Bobby Thomas.

Pallbearers will be Matt Thomas, Danny Rhoden, Leon Rhoden, Richard Rhoden, Earl Hoven, and Robert Thomas.

Visitation will be today, one hour prior to service.
