Private graveside services for Bowman Louis “BL” Brown, 91, will be Thursday, September 10, 2020 at 11:00 am at Pine Grove Church Cemetery in Martin. Bro. Tommy Espey will be officiating. Mr. Brown passed away Monday, September 7, 2020 at his residence. Stephens Funeral Home has been entrusted with his arrangements.

BL was a very sought-after heavy equipment operator. He was happy all the time, loved camping, deer hunting and his family. He was a very faithful and loyal church member going wherever Bro. Tommy Espey was. He loved the Lord and loved his church. He also raised six children as a single father.

He is survived by his children Bill Brown (Connie), Elaine Nelson, Becky Raines (Donnie), Dorothy Espey, Bowman Brown Jr. (Barb), Jill Scott, Julie Frazier (Kelvin), John Espey (Melody), Jean Herrington, Tommy Espey (Jo), Albert Espey (Barbara); numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren, and sisters Margaret Godwin and Alice Cooper-Gatewood (Ralph) and sister-in-law Ruby Brown.

He was preceded in death by his parents William G. and Annie May Brown; wife May Brown, sister Cleba Delores Brown, brothers William David (Billy) Brown and Wiley Gene Brown, brother-in-law Billy Godwin, son Jonathan (Teddy) Espey and grandchildren Zachary Espey, Autumn Espey, and Abel Steppee.
