Betty Gail (Long) Davis passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, in Meridian, MS.
Born on April 3, 1947, to Willie Bryant Rutledge and Asia (Asa) Zachary Long, Betty Gail and her siblings lived a hard life that made them strong.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Dorothy Jean King, Elsie Long, Alice Marie “Rita” Shannon, William (Buddy) Long, and Aubrey Larry Long (Bebo) Sr.
Aunt Betty Gail was "tough as nails" and ran many bars where she could have acted as her own bouncer. Known for racing a car at times, at the family’s former Whynot, MS Dirt Track, she was never one to back down. A favorite story tells of her and her brother (Bebo) skipping school to ride horses for long distances; they were caught by their dad when they tried to race home - because the horses were soaking wet with sweat.
Though she had no children of her own, she assumed the role through a few of her nieces and nephews. She will be remembered for ending every one of our phone calls with, “I love you too, Honey.”
We love you Aunt Gail, Audrey Long-Bohannon
The staff of Webb & Stephens Funeral Homes-North is grateful for the opportunity to honor Ms. Betty Gail’s life and memory and to serve her loving family during this time.
