Aurora S. Hilburn of Meridian, MS, passed away peacefully on July 5th, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at her home. Born on November 15th, 1938, in Pleasanton, TX. She was the beloved child of Daniel and Melchora Sotello and a resident of Meridian, MS and Pleasanton, TX.
Aurora S. Hilburn possessed a remarkable servant's heart, dedicating her life to the noble calling of caregiving for 50 years. She worked as a private caregiver for multiple families, touching the lives of countless people. To her, caregiving was never just a job; it was a profound act of love, patience, and compassion. She brought comfort, love, peace, and always loved her job
Beyond her caretaking Aurora S. Hilburn was known for ger green thumb and always had beautiful blooming flower beds. Spending precious time with her grandkids is very family-oriented and always willing to help others. She had a big heart and strong faith. Her Catholic faith was a very important part of her life. She was a strong-willed woman, hardworking, talented, ambitious, smart, hardheaded and did things her way. She was fearless! She enjoyed the casino when she could go.
She was preceded in death by her parents Daniel and Melchora Sotello, daughter Angie Hilburn, and grandson Oscar Facheco.
Aurora S Hilburn is survived by daughter Norma Curby (Thomas) from Merdian, MS; her son Alex Hilburn (Angie) from Flushing, MI; Grandchildren, Yvonne Pacheco, Brandon Curby, Amanda Herrera, Adreanna Hilburns, Alexandria Maldonado, Justin Garza, Elena Garza, Melissa Munoz; 12 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; and multiple nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a warm thanks to Gentiva Hospice and Angel Homecare, who made it possible for mom to stay in her home. She will be deeply missed. Rest in Peace.
