Mrs. Annie Pearl Collier of Meridian, aged 105, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Bedford Care Center of Marion, surrounded by her loving family.
Pearl was born on March 6, 1920, to Att Boren and Elizabeth “Bettie” Kent Boren in Kemper County. She moved to Meridian when she was just 19 years old. In the Spring of 1946, she married the love of her life, John Floyd Collier, and they were married for 53 wonderful years before his passing in 1999.
She will be remembered as a very loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. Pearl loved her Lord and her family most of all. She was a long-time member of Oak Grove Baptist Church of Meridian. She was a true Southern lady and very independent, even up into her 90’s. She was also an excellent cook, especially when it came to her famous pound cake and turnip greens. Some of her favorite times were spent with the family during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays and cooking for them. Pearl’s absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish Pearl’s memory are her daughter, Betty Auton; grandchildren, Lisa Ray (Donny), Karen James (Neil), Jason Collier (Renae), Amy Hollingsworth (Wade), and Leigh Anne Miller (Clay); step-grandchildren, Yvonne Deen (Scott) and Yvette Davis (Charlie); a legacy of seventeen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Att and Bettie Boren; her beloved husband of 53 years, John Floyd Collier; her sons, John A. Collier and Larry James Collier; seven brothers; three sisters; her son-in-law, Terry D. Auton; and her great granddaughter, Caroline Miller.
Visitation for Pearl will be held on Monday, August 25th from 10-11:00 am at Webb & Stephens Funeral Homes-North. Graveside Services will take place at 11:30 am at Magnolia Cemetery with Bro. Jack Kern officiating the service.
Serving as pallbearers for her service will be Wade Hollingsworth, Donny Ray, Max Haney, Tyler Miller, Jason Collier, and Wayne Boren.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Bedford Care Center of Marion for their compassionate care of Pearl and her family during the eleven years she was with them. She made many beloved friends while there, and her family will forever be grateful for each one.
The staff of Webb & Stephens Funeral Homes-North is grateful for the opportunity to honor Mrs. Pearl’s life and memory and to serve her loving family during this time.
