Alva Moore

August 10, 1959 — June 12, 2021

Alva Conrad Moore, 61, died Saturday, June 12, 2021, at Anderson Regional Medical Center. At the family’s request, there will be a private memorial service at a later date.

Alva owned his own company, Image Sign, and enjoyed installing his custom designed products throughout the southeast. His greatest enjoyment was, however, not limited to his work outdoors, but included, as well, the expression of his artistic ability and wit through his custom designs. A local notable example of this is the “big tooth” sign on North Hills Street.

Alva enjoyed activities that involved design and construction or mechanical challenges. Tinkering and repair of vehicles of any type, ranging from corvettes, to motorcycles, to boom trucks kept him busy and happy.

Most of all, Alva loved people and remained kind, considerate and compassionate to many who were in need. While quick in wit, he could also be counted upon to provide direct and earnest advice and direction when the situation required. Alva was loved and will be missed by many, and the memories of his kindness will keep those who knew him smiling with a tear in their eye.

He is survived by his mother Catherine Moore Harden; his two sisters Cathy Murphy (Philip), and Velinda Evans; his nieces and nephews J. Ryan Murphy, Ashley Murphy, Tammy Evans Yonce, David J. Evans III, and Jason C. Evans; Cousins Becky Walters Tinsley, William E. Brooks, Connie Elaine Buffalo and Kerry Ketchell; an Uncle Charles Edgar Bracken and an Aunt Freda Murphy.

He was preceded in death by his father Alva F. Moore Jr., and his stepfather Dr. Timothy Harden Jr.
