Alma Joann “Jo” Tadlock, 88, of Meridian, passed away peacefully during the early morning hours of Monday, July 14, 2025, at Trend Health & Rehab.
Jo was born to Edward “Ed” and Annie (Scarborough) Hagwood in Lauderdale County, on August 27, 1936. Most people would remember Jo from the Decorator Center of Meridian. She was very much sought after for her advice in paints and colors, as well as highly thought of as an excellent businesswoman with meticulous record keeping. After marrying the love of her life, Bobby Tadlock, on June 30, 1984, she and Bobby ran the business for eighteen years before retiring.
Jo will be remembered for the loving, devoted, and caring wife, mother, aunt, and friend she was. She loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own, taking them on many vacations with her and teaching them many things like how to water ski. Jo was also known to have been an excellent basketball player in Whynot during her high school days, “fast as lightening” they would say about her. She was great at many things, but most of all, she was greatest at loving and making sure her husband and family were always first in her life.
Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Annie Hagwood; her brother, William Willis “Sonny” Hagwood; her sisters, Minnie Lee Hagwood Massey and Ella Mae Hagwood Miller; her nephew, Jimmy Miller; along with her first husband, Rufus Shirley.
Those left to cherish Jo’s memory are her loving husband of 41 years, Bobby Paul Tadlock, Sr.; her special children, Tammy Phillips, Paul Tadlock, and Chris Tadlock (Jennifer); her beloved nieces and nephews, Gloria Jones (Dennis), Jean Crawford (Borden), Debbie Hathorn (Mike), Billy Hagwood (Cindy), Edwina Williams, and Donald Wayne Hagwood (Michelle); along with a legacy of six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; and numerous cousins and close friends.
Visitation for Jo will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, from 10-11:00 am at Webb & Stephens Funeral Homes-Downtown. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 am in the chapel with Bro. Ron Mercer officiating the service. Burial will take place in the Causeyville Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests for donations to made in Jo’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association, the American Cancer Society, or to a charity of your choice.
The staff of Webb & Stephens Funeral Homes-Downtown is grateful for the opportunity to honor Jo’s life and memory and to serve her loving family during this time.
